Chapter 34 Long Road

Yi Chenliang woke up in the evening.

In the empty ward, there were somewhat glaring lights and snow-white walls.

His whole body ached as if it had been run over. With a slight movement, dizziness and nausea followed. He stared blankly at the nearly empty IV bag, blinking.

The door of the ward seemed not to be closed tightly, and he could vaguely hear voices outside.

“Back so soon…”

“…He’ll make a fuss if he can’t see anyone…”

There was more chatter outside, and then someone pushed the door and came in.

The nurse, holding an IV bag, looked at Yi Chenliang with a smile, “Little handsome guy, you’re awake.”

Yi Chenliang didn’t look at her, his gaze fixed on Yun Fang without moving.

Yun Fang, however, was looking down and not at him. He put down the things in his hand, took the bottle from the nurse, and said, “I’ll do it.”

“Ah, good.” The nurse joked with a smile, “Little handsome guy, don’t stare. You’re making your brother’s ears red!”

Yun Fang paused in his actions, and Yi Chenliang’s gaze involuntarily moved to his ears, indeed, a thin layer of red.

“Remember not to feed your younger brother too greasy food, and no stimulating food either. I’m going out now, ring the bell if you need anything.” The nurse seemed to like Yun Fang very much, and even waved at him specially.

Yun Fang just nodded politely, put the dinner he bought on the bedside cabinet, and said to Yi Chenliang, “Get up and have some porridge.”

Yi Chenliang looked at him steadily, his voice hoarse, "I kissed you." ”

Yun Fang's hand shook, and he almost lifted the porridge bowl, but his face was very calm, "You just burned your brain at that time." ”

Yi Chenliang was silent for two seconds, and sighed, "Is it possible to kiss as long as I have a fever in the future?"

Yun Fang wanted to dump the porridge on his head.

“I almost forgot.” Yi Chenliang said seriously, “I can even when I’m drunk.”

“Yi Chenliang,” Yun Fang put down the porridge bowl, and said seriously, “You speak properly to me.”

“Oh.” Yi Chenliang responded in a muffled voice, “I’m hungry, Yun Fang.”

Yun Fang took a deep breath, reminding himself that he couldn’t hit the injured, and picked up the porridge bowl to feed him.

Yi Chenliang hadn’t been able to eat a warm meal for nearly three days. Yun Fang fed him a spoonful and he ate a spoonful. In no time, he had finished a whole bowl of porridge.

His right hand couldn’t move, and his left hand was tied with a needle. After finishing, Yun Fang pulled a piece of tissue to wipe his mouth, but he bit Yun Fang’s finger through the tissue.

Yun Fang tugged but couldn’t pull it out, “Are you a dog?”

Yi Chenliang gnawed on his finger.

“Let go.” Yun Fang glared at him.

Yi Chenliang reluctantly let go, looking at him eagerly.

Unable to stand his look, Yun Fang asked, “What on earth do you want to do?”

"I can kiss you when I don't have a fever." Yi Chenliang said sincerely, "I was burning before, and was unable to taste it."

“…” Yun Fang wanted to hit someone after hearing the first sentence, but was led astray by his bizarre description after the second, “Can even taste it?”

“I can.” Yi Chenliang licked his lips and extended a sincere invitation to him, “Do you want to try?”

Yun Fang coldly rejected his invitation and threatened, “I think you want a few more stitches on your head.”

Yi Chenliang sighed with some regret.

Yun Fang understood that boys of this age were full of vigor, and their minds were filled with inappropriate thoughts at the slightest provocation. But he didn’t understand why Yi Chenliang would be like this.

In his self-memory, he was never particularly interested in these things. When he got older, taking a few extra glances at a beautiful woman on the street was considered breaking the rules. He didn’t care about being called sexually indifferent due to his lack of desire.

Why, after experiencing such a life-and-death event, the first thing Yi Chenliang thought of was not revenge, but to shamelessly flirt with a man?

Why did Yi Chenliang become like this?

Yun Fang fell into a baffling self-doubt.

I shouldn’t be so shameless.

Although Yi Chenliang had caused a commotion after waking up, his severely injured body obviously didn’t allow him to be so excited. Soon, he lost his energy and looked listless, his brows furrowed in pain.

“You’ve broken two ribs, it’s normal to feel pain.” Yun Fang sat by the bed and tucked him in, “Breathing and coughing will hurt. Even though you’re wearing a chest strap, you still need to be careful when coughing. If the pain is unbearable, take some painkillers.”

Yi Chenliang’s eyes were noticeably ringed with dark circles, which looked especially obvious on his pale face. He had lost some weight in just two days. Upon hearing this, he asked, “How do you know all this so clearly?”

“Of course it’s because I——” Yun Fang was about to grab an apple, but he paused and changed his words, “heard it from the doctor.”

Yi Chenliang always felt that his pause was a bit strange, but before he could think deeply about it, Yun Fang stuffed a small piece of apple into his mouth, “Chew slowly.”

“Hmm.” Yi Chenliang, who had never received such meticulous and intimate care since childhood, found the apple in his mouth to be several degrees sweeter than usual. He squinted his eyes and smiled at Yun Fang as he ate.

“What are you grinning about?” Yun Fang looked at him with disdain and stuffed him another small piece.

He thought to himself, why is he laughing like a silly dog?

And then he felt relieved, thankfully he didn’t laugh much when he was still Yi Chenliang.

The last bottle of IV bag was hung very slowly. After eating a few pieces of apple, Yi Chenliang fell asleep. Yun Fang was originally sitting by the bed watching him, but somehow he also dozed off.

****

——He was heavily thrown onto the platform, a sharp pain came from his chest, and his ears were ringing.

“Yi Chenliang! Stand up!”

Someone was yelling at him loudly, but it sounded very vague. He couldn’t spit out the blood foam in his mouth. He convulsed in pain a few times, gasping for air non-stop.

The intense pain made him feel like he was going to die.

“Damn it! Yi Chenliang, stand up for me! If you don’t want to die, stand up!”

He coughed up a large mouthful of blood foam, crawled up from the platform, and was immediately kicked in the stomach by a huge force. His whole body flew out, hit the ropes heavily and bounced back, and the opponent’s elbow smashed towards his chest.

If he was hit, he would die. A chilling cold rose from the soles of his feet to his brain. He almost exhausted all his strength to dodge this blow, flipped in the air, and punched the opponent’s temple.

There was a burst of crazy cheers and curses around him. He didn’t know whether it was blood or sweat that flowed into his eyes. The tall figure opposite finally couldn’t hold on and fell to the ground.

“He’s dead! He’s dead!” Someone shouted excitedly.

He stood on the spot with great effort, his hand was raised by the referee to declare victory. The intense pain almost made him faint, but he still clenched his teeth and stood on the spot.

The overwhelming noise drowned him. The scene changed, and he was lying on the ground again.

He reached out to cover his leg, but the blood was still gushing out. There was deafening gunfire around him.

He struggled to crawl to the back of the tree, randomly grabbed a branch and bit it in his mouth, took out the dagger to open the wound and quickly picked out the bullet. The instant pain made him throw his head back, the veins on his forehead almost burst, the suppressed scream reddened his eyes, the branch in his mouth broke with a snap, leaving only a mouthful of blood.

He gasped heavily, wrapped the wound tightly with a cloth strip, gritted his teeth and crawled up from the ground, limping towards the depths of the jungle.

Another bullet had pierced his shoulder.

He lay lifelessly on the ground, the smell of earth and the burnt scent of gunpowder lingering in his nostrils. His consciousness began to blur, but he still struggled to crawl forward.

Footsteps approached from afar. With his eyes closed, he tightened his grip on the gun.

Bang!

The gunshot sounded, and hot blood splattered on his face.

The other person fell convulsively, and he pressed the muzzle against the other’s temple and fired another shot.

He looked coldly at the corpse, struggled to get up from the ground, and walked towards the uncertain path in the distance.

The road was silent and long, with only the blinding white light and endless silence. He walked tirelessly, walked until it was unbearable, walked until he was exhausted.

“…Wake up, if you don’t wake up, I’m going to kiss you.”

He heard someone speaking in his ear, his eyelids stinging, the white light dispersed, and what came into view was the familiar face of the young man.

In a daze, he couldn’t even tell which one was himself.

“I really kissed you.” Seeing his eyes scattered and lost, Yi Chenliang boldly pressed a light kiss on his lips.

The person who was kissed thought in a daze.

So at the end of the long road, it was himself.
