Both men bared their muscular upper bodies. Song Seven was covered in old scars, while Terrestrial Rabbit bore fresh burns.
On the surface, Terrestrial Rabbit’s injuries looked far more severe, blood streaming freely. In truth, it was Song Seven whose pain had driven his mind to the brink, leaving him able to manage only a strained smile.
“Before you leave, kill me,” Song Seven said.
“Ha!” Terrestrial Rabbit laughed, anger curling in his smile. “So what exactly are you planning? It’s currently my turn. Whether I grab the Divine Artifact first, or deal with you before taking it, what difference does it make?”
“There is no difference,” Song Seven nodded. “However, if I let you through this door while I’m still alive, it would leave me with no way to justify my actions to my teammates.”
With words barely out, his right hand rose; the instant Terrestrial Rabbit moved, Song Seven would commit his final, all-or-nothing punch.
“You got quite the backbone,” Terrestrial Rabbit stepped toward him and asked, “What did you say your name was?”
“Song Seven.”
“Noted.” Terrestrial Rabbit slowly shifted his steps, remarking, “Song Seven, if fate allows, we’ll meet again. I’ll send you off to die now. If you dare come again, I’ll take your life the moment I see you.”
Song Seven, who had been braced and ready to fight to the death, suddenly witnessed an extremely bizarre scene.
Terrestrial Rabbit was clearly filled with killing intent, yet he slowly turned around, and began walking toward a door behind him, still muttering to himself. “I’ll grant you a quiet death. “Chen Jun…nan…?” The three syllables slipped from his mouth involuntarily. Terrestrial Rabbit snapped back to his senses, breaking out in a cold sweat.
He realized that he was actually about to leave the room. When his killing intent flared just now, even his own consciousness had slipped beyond his control. The target he wanted to kill was no longer the Song Seven, but someone named Chen Junnan.
If not for that sudden jolt of pain snapping him awake, he would already be standing in the neighboring room.
