Starlet Taotie Chapter 35 (Part 1)
Chapter 35.1 Paying Tribute
On the variety show stream, Director Zou cleared his throat. “After everyone’s hard work over the past few episodes, Qingxi Town has become quite popular with the public. It’s even turned into a hot tourist destination recently...”
As Director Zou spoke, the production team thoughtfully brought up a crude-looking PowerPoint presentation, which did an excellent job of showcasing just how broke the production team was.
“We’re very happy to see that, so this episode, we’ve decided to not make everyone work so hard. We’re going to take a little vacation ourselves and enjoy the sights and local culture of Qingxi Town.
“Of course, you’re not getting a free-to-do-nothing-vacation. We’ve also taken on a few tasks from the villagers and will be assigning them to everyone. Complete a task, and you’ll get a corresponding local delicacy and a fun activity. Fail, and you’ll have to go hungry.”
Before the guests could say anything, he added, “Also, no threatening the villagers or trying to buy clues from them with money...”
The guests whose thoughts had just been exposed all let out long sighs.
They knew it. There was no way the production team’s scheme was going to be that simple.
【LMFAO ‘no threatening the villagers’ you might as well just say Jiang Tao’s name!】
【Jiang Jiang: it’s called a friendly negotiation.】
【lololololol】
After going through everything and making sure he hadn’t left anything out, Director Zou finally declared, “Now, it’s time to form teams.”
Team selection was no difference from war.
Especially someone like Jiang Tao, who was universally recognized as capable. Being on her team was practically a guarantee of victory.
Sure enough, the moment Director Zou announced that team formation had begun, the other five guests all looked toward Jiang Tao.
The three men were still a little hesitant, but the two girls had already made their moves.
Tang Yuxia: “Jiang Jiang, I want to be on your team.”
He RanRan was unwilling to lose out either, and immediately stepped to Jiang Tao’s other side.
Dong Xianhong scratched his head. “I suddenly feel like we’re kind of unnecessary...”
Sheng Xibai: “It’s okay, Hong ge. I’ll always choose you.”
Yang Zhen: “...?”
【HAHAHAHAHAHA, poor Yang ge!!!】
【Yang Zhen: this goddamn world really leaves us single dogs with no way to survive.】
【Yang ge: Do you people have any manners?!】
Tang Yuxia and He RanRan had each come up with their own tricks, both determined to team up with Jiang Tao.
Director Zou looked at Jiang Tao with a smile. “So, Xiao Jiang, who do you choose to team up with?”
【Here we go, here we go! Let the showdown begin!】
【Jiang×He let’s goooo!!!】
【Jiang×Tang Jiang×Tang!】
The audience was incredibly excited. After all, this was the exact scene from last week’s preview, except they had deliberately left the outcome hanging. The viewers had been dying to know what happened for an entire week.
Even the haters were excited.
Fight! Fight!
As long as Jiang Tao picked one of them, they could use the other shippers to stir up trouble.
Yet, to everyone’s surprise, Jiang Tao shook her head.
“I’m not choosing.”
Everyone: “...?”
Haters: “!!!”
Jiang Tao looked at the others. “I’ll be a team of one. If you need my help, you can come find me. Just share some of the food with me after you finish your task.”
Everyone: “...”
Director Zou: “Well...”
“Is that not allowed?” Jiang Tao frowned. “The rules don’t seem to say we can’t do that...”
Director Zou finally came back to his senses. “I... suppose it’s not against the rules, if everyone else agrees.”
Dong Xianhong and Sheng Xibai exchanged a glance, clearly tempted. They both raised their hands. “We agree!”
Please, given the show's production crew and their habits, these tasks were certainly not going to be simple. If they could do it on their own, great! If not, having someone as capable as Jiang Tao to lend a hand at any moment was better than gaining nothing at all, even if it meant losing a bit of food afterward.
Tang Yuxia and He RanRan were satisfied with the arrangement as well.
【HAHAHAHAHAHA THAT WORKS TOO IG?!】
【Director Zou: You really are a clever little imp.】
【Director Zou: You sure know how to work around the rules.】
【Jiang Tao: Why bother forming teams when I can just be everyone’s dad lololol】
【I knew it. When it comes to food, my Jiang jie always manages to make the most unexpected choices.】
【shippers must be sobbin rn lmao turns out Jiang Jiang’s true love is food!】
The haters were the ones who really wanted to cry.
This was too hard!!
Could Jiang Tao just play by the rules for once?!
Amid the barrage of laughter in the bullet comments, everyone set off to complete their tasks.
The cameras followed them straight onto the streets of the town.
After four episodes, everyone was already quite familiar with the place.
Compared to when they had first arrived, when the streets had been quiet and deserted, Qingxi Town was now noticeably livelier.
Especially A’Juan’s Restaurant, where Jiang Tao had worked before. Quite a few people had come specifically because they’d heard about it.
【lololol Speaking of A Juan’s restaurant, does anyone actually go there to eat? I’ve seen Jiang Tao absolutely demolishing the food, but Silly-sa ge said on his livestream that it was just average. Who am I supposed to believe?】
【i went there it was ok ig just pretty normal home style country cooking】
【bro above, did you not order the Jiang Tao Set Meal?】
【wth is that??】
【I know hehe I got curious and ordered it. Turns out you have to water the crops, prep the vegetables, feed the chickens, and wash the rice yourself. I was exhausted by the time I was done. But I gotta admit, when it was finally time to eat, it tasted damn good!】
【LOLOLOL okay that set meal has officially piqued my interest】
