Chapter 63: Who Scares Who

Feng Tian walked all the way arrogantly, and Tang Qiaoqiao followed her while feeling funny. The two arrived at the haunted house, where the second task would be held. The task was not just to pass the haunted house but also to find three night-pearls inside.

The sign at the haunted house entrance was written in red blood-like fonts "Thrilling World." The entrance was a monster's big mouth. The pointed teeth also seem to drip with blood, and the hole looks so dark that it was terrifying.

The amusement park was doing its best to tell visitors: Our place is very scary and exciting.

A staff member kindly reminded them at the door, "Although the playground is not open today, the staff of our haunted house are very dedicated, and everyone is on duty. Dear visitors can have face-to-face, cordial and in-depth exchanges with well-known ghosts from all over the world. Both ancient and modern."

Tang Qiaoqiao curled her lips, "This show is really testing our heart." They just finished a roller coaster, and now it was a haunted house adventure.

While the staff were talking, Tang Qiaoqiao felt Feng Tian trembling by her side.

"Can you do it?" Tang Qiaoqiao asked.

Feng Tian straightened her chest when she heard the words. "I'm okay. The princess can't say no."

Tang Qiaoqiao: "Then, princess, please go first."

Feng Tian hesitated for two seconds.

Tang Qiaoqiao reminded her, "What did you promise just now?"

Feng Tian muttered all the way here about trying to win the game for the hamburger.

Feng Tian gritted her teeth. She was a firm and realistic person. All demons and ghosts were fake. Nothing terrible would happen.

Thinking of this, Feng Tian made up her mind and walked into the dark hole first. Tang Qiaoqiao slowed down two steps behind her before she followed her.

To create an atmosphere of horror, the haunted house installed a gloomy green flame lamp on the wall. It shook from time to time, changing the light and shadow. At the same time, gusts of cold wind blew from inside.

Feng Tian nervously observed the surrounding environment. "It's so dark. How can we find the pearl?"

Tang Qiaoqiao looked around. "The program group will definitely not hide it randomly. There must be clues to follow. Let's continue walking."

After walking for a while, it became colder and colder inside. The lights became dimmer and dimmer. In silence, only the breathing of the two could be heard.

Feng Tian walked in front of Tang Qiaoqiao in the beginning, but now she had walked side by side with Tang Qiaoqiao.

"It's too quiet, but nothing can be seen." Feng Tian said suspiciously.

"No," Tang Qiaoqiao pointed to her right side and widened her eyes, "Look at your right. A friend is here."

Feng Tian was a little relaxed because she hadn't encountered any ghosts after she came in. Suddenly, she turned her head to look and saw a zombie wearing Qing Dynasty clothes jumping over. His face is dead white, his eyes were flushed, his long tongue stretched out, and his hands were out straight.

At this time, the zombie was only one arm away from Feng Tian's face, and his five black fingertips were scary.

"Ahhhhh!!!"

Feng Tian gasped, feeling that her heart almost stopped suddenly. She screamed like a pig, and at the same time, she rushed forward, just wanting to get rid of the zombie quickly.

After running a few steps, Feng Tian was stopped by Tang Qiaoqiao.

"Wait a minute."

Although Feng Tian stopped running, her steps were still swaying. She asked in fright, "What are you waiting for? There are zombies. It's terrible."

Tang Qiaoqiao looked back. "He was the first one to come out. Maybe he got a clue."

"You mean we should go back there?" Feng Tian asked incredulously.

Tang Qiaoqiao firmly said, "That's right."

Feng Tian: "Go if you want to go back. I won't go back."

Tang Qiaoqiao nodded. "Well, I'll go back. You can figure out the rest."

She turned and walked back.

Feng Tian didn't expect Tang Qiaoqiao to be so cruel and ruthless, leaving her here alone. She wanted to say spinelessly, "Whoever is afraid is whoever walks away."But when Tang Qiaoqiao left, Feng Tian suddenly felt that the wind around her was more sinister, as if someone was blowing into her neck.

She looked at the way forward, which was so dark that she couldn't see her fingers. Then resolutely turned around and ran towards Tang Qiaoqiao.

People had to be able to bend and stretch!

Feng Tian exclaimed, "If there is something wrong with the zombie, you have to make me another hamburger after going out." As a mental damage expense.

Tang Qiaoqiao laughed and said nothing.

The two quickly returned to the place where they encountered the zombie just now, but the zombie had disappeared.

Tang Qiaoqiao followed the zombie's route to find its old nest. It was arranged in the shape of an ancient tomb with three black coffins inside, which were worn and old. The walls were covered with yellow talisman charms.

"Mr. Zombie, where are you?"

"Don't hide. I know you are here."

"Quickly come out. How can we communicate cordially if you don't come out?"

Tang Qiaoqiao's voice sounded faint, accompanied by her chuckling laughter and the sound of her leather boots hitting the floor, "thud thud thud thud." The sounds were extremely prominent in the empty room.

Feng Tian swallowed and said to Tang Qiaoqiao, "I feel that you are scarier than the zombie now."

At this time, the zombie lying in the coffin felt the same way.

After scaring away the tourists, as usual, he returned to his lounge, the coffin, to recharge his energy. Who knew that the two of them would return.

He met such a bold tourist for the first time in this business. What's more nerve-wracking was that as Tang Qiaoqiao's voice gradually approached, his heart was beating faster.

A zombie trembled in fright because of the tourists. Who could tell him how this was still a haunted house world?

"Is it here?" Tang Qiaoqiao lifted up a coffin board. "It's not here, maybe the next one."

Mr. Zombie hid in the coffin and drew his hands on his chest, working hard to give the woman a frightening blow to save his own face.

"Oh, it's not." Tang Qiaoqiao sighed, seemingly with pity.

"Only the last one left. If he is not here, let's go." Tang Qiaoqiao's voice sounded above Mr. Zombie.

As soon as the voice finished talking, the coffin board was pushed aside by Tang Qiaoqiao.

Mr. Zombie was about to stretch out his hands to attack, but he caught a white skull head unexpectedly, looking very gloomy under the green light above the head.

"I found you." The skull smiled strangely at him.

"Ghost!!"

Mr. Zombie yelled out of fright. He suddenly sat up, pushed the skeleton away, and rolled out of the coffin.

"Hahaha!" Feng Tian smiled and clapped her hands. Tang Qiaoqiao had just taken a skeleton mask next door just before coming into this room. She didn't expect it to come in handy.

Tang Qiaoqiao was simply a ghost-buster in the haunted house. She even shocked the ghost, such a cruel person.

Hearing the laughter of another girl, Mr. Zombie realized that he had been tricked, and his expression immediately looked discouraged.

Tang Qiaoqiao took off the skull mask and smiled, "Don't be afraid. I just made a little joke with you to ease the dull atmosphere here."

'Dull?'

He was one of the most popular ghosts in the haunted house.

Mr. Zombie was very depressed. His tongue was hanging out listlessly.

Tang Qiaoqiao asked, "I want to ask if you know where the night pearl is?"

"Don't know." Mr. Zombie's voice was a little vague with the big fake tongue in his mouth.

Tang Qiaoqiao said, "You didn't even ask what it was, and just said that you don't know. Then, that means you know."

Mr. Zombie regretted it. He said too quickly and exposed himself.

Feng Tian was not too scared at the moment and asked, "Quickly speak, or she will continue to scare you."

Mr. Zombie's eyes fluttered, but he just didn't say anything.

Tang Qiaoqiao said, "It must be in this room. Look for it."

Feng Tian obediently turned around. Tang Qiaoqiao kept paying attention to the reaction of the zombie. After realizing that he glanced at the coffin, she went straight to the coffin.

Feng Tian showed disgust. "The show crew would not be so abnormal, hiding the pearl in the coffin?"

Tang Qiaoqiao opened the coffins again and turned them over. The first two had nothing, so she walked to the coffin where Mr. Zombie laid.

"Disrespectful. Don't move my things."

The zombie was anxious and came over to stop her.

Tang Qiaoqiao then took a yellow talisman paper from the wall next to her and stuck it on his forehead.

"Be quiet."

Feng Tian & Mr. Zombie: ???

At this time, the staff of the program group, who were staring at the monitoring room, were also in the same mood. 'She still brings this kind of play?'

Mr. Zombie froze in place. He didn't know whether he should move because no one had treated him this way before. There were no written rules about this in the haunted house.

Tang Qiaoqiao looked through the coffin carefully and found that there was a partition under the bottom board. She opened the partition. Feng Tian curiously leaned over to take a look and then let out a shrieking scream.

A skeleton was lying under the coffin, and the night pearl was in the skull's mouth.

This skeleton is much more realistic than Tang Qiaoqiao's mask.

Tang Qiaoqiao was overjoyed and carefully took out the night pearl, which was actually a shining bead.

"The program crew is really abnormal. They actually use the custom of putting a gem on the tongue of the dead."

The program crew: 'I think you are more abnormal.'

Tang Qiaoqiao put away the night pearl and removed the yellow paper on Mr. Zombie's face. The latter saw the pearl was taken away, which meant his mission failed. He was aggrieved.

Tang Qiaoqiao said, "How long have you been working here?"

He replied, "More than half a year."

"Do you know why you failed? You are not scary enough. Have you seen Lin Zhengying's films?"

He shook his head. Those movies were too old.

"You can go and see them. They are very classic. You need to learn how zombies are scary. In this line of work, you must often learn to change so you can stay longer."

Mr. Zombie was stunned.

Feng Tian was also dumbfounded. She had made the right decision when she didn't deal with Tang Qiaoqiao at first. Otherwise, she wouldn't know how she died.

Tang Qiaoqiao motioned Feng Tian to leave, but after two steps, she turned to the zombie and said, "Don't be discouraged, there will be a tall man coming in later, you can do this."

Then Tang Qiaoqiao taught the zombie how to frighten Shen Liang. Feng Tian not only didn't stop it but wanted to see it.

'So exciting!'

The program crew: 'It's over. The simple Feng Tian was led off track by Tang Qiaoqiao.'

Tang Qiaoqiao took Feng Tian to continue walking forward, past the Chinese ghost district and came to the neon country district.

The world-famous ghost, Sadako, was halfway stuck inside the TV. She slowly crawled out of the TV when she heard a noise indicating that someone had pushed the start button.

She had black hair covering her face tightly, and her hands crawled forward in a twisted posture.

Feng Tian hid behind Tang Qiaoqiao, screaming with a sharp voice, shaking like chaff.

Tang Qiaoqiao watched Sadako climb to her feet, then paused as if wondering, 'Why didn't they run away?'

Then she stretched out her paw to grab the foot of the woman in front of her. However, her hair was pulled in the next moment.

Tang Qiaoqiao asked curiously, "Your wig is quite realistic."

After pulling twice, Sister Sadako made a hissing, painful cry.

"Ah, this is your real hair? I'm sorry." Tang Qiaoqiao quickly let go of the hair.

Sadako rubbed her scalp violently. 'It hurts!'

Tang Qiaoqiao squatted down and asked directly to the face full of hair, "How do you keep your hair so black and thick?"

Sadako: ??

Translator Notes:

Mr.Zombie in this chapter is not a western zombie, like in modern zombie movies, but a "Jiangshi"

A Jiangshi, also known as a Chinese hopping vampire, is a type of reanimated corpse in Chinese legends and folklore. It is typically depicted as a stiff corpse dressed in official garments from the Qing Dynasty, and it moves around by hopping with its arms outstretched.

It is believed that jiangshi are so stiff that they cannot bend their limbs or body, so they have to move around by hopping while keeping their arms stretched out for mobility. Jiangshi are depicted in popular culture to have a yellow paper talisman (with a sealing spell) attached onto and hanging off the forehead in portrait orientation. The yellow paper talisman usually stops the jiangshi from moving.

Sadako is the main antagonist of "The Ring" horror novel series and the film franchiseof the same name. Sadako's fictional history alternates between continuities, but all depict her as the vengeful ghost of a psychic who was murdered and thrown into a well.

She is depicted as a female ghost with long hair covering her face, which will crawl out from a TV and kill her victims.
