Chapter 170 I Missed You So Much (2)

Wen Yantong felt goosebumps from their stares, so she sped up her pace and walked quickly to Chi Jingxi's side. She bowed her head slightly and curtsied. "Little Marquis."

Chi Jingxi examined her with his eyes. Other than her messy hair, there wasn't any visible trauma, so he asked, "What happened to your cousin?"

When Su Mingwei heard this, his motion of fleeing halted. It was imperative that he take initiative, so he smiled and pretended to be familiar with Chi Jingxi, "Little Marquis, when did you return to Chang'an? You should have told us ahead of time!"

Chi Jingxi's eyes were as cold as ice. He gave Su Mingwei a quick glance and continued to disregard him.

Wen Yantong replied, "Just now on the boat, Young Master Su spoke rudely to me. My cousin couldn't stand it and wanted to teach him a lesson, but was soon overpowered because he was against three people. This was the outcome of the fight."

Su Mingwei grew anxious. "Girl, when did I say something rude to you! Didn't we both agree it was a misunderstanding? Many people can vouch as witnesses!"

Wen Yantong snorted softly, "That was just a temporary measure to deal with the situation. You said you would also take me in when you marry your wife. If I didn't consent, you told me that you would act right then and there. Although I'm a daughter from a commoner’s family, I’m just as innocent. How could I let you take advantage of me?"

When Chi Jingxi heard this, his whole body burned with fury. While he was inwardly furious, the expression on his face became increasingly solemn.

Su Mingwei yelled back, "Girl, you got quite a gab tongue! How dare you color white as black, and black as white?! It was obviously your cousin who made their first move! Yet you even taint me with your factitious lies? I bet you covet the Su Residence’s powers, and want to use me to enter the inner yard of Su Residence by deliberately slandering me!"

Chi Jingxi laughed out of anger and said coldly, "Your Su family's inner yard? Apart from the women you had seized with force, what else is there worth coveting?"

Su Mingwei was shocked, "Chi Jingxi, don't go overboard! She’s but just a commoner's daughter, you want to make enemies with my Su Residence because of her?"

Before he could finish his words, Chi Jingxi's figure had turned into an afterimage; his movement was so fast that the surrounding guards couldn’t react in time. The punch had landed straight onto Su Mingwei's face.

The sound of the collision was extremely heavy. Su Mingwei was beaten so hard that he rolled back twice, harshly fell to the ground, and spat out a mouthful of blood.

Upon closer inspection, there was a broken tooth in the puddle of blood.

Su Mingwei grabbed his own throat and wailed; his jaw had been dislocated, so he couldn't speak a word; perhaps he had never experienced this kind of pain before, but tears and snot appeared in an instant.

Chi Jingxi looked at him condescendingly. "There's no need to keep a dumb mouth that can only speak inhuman words."

Su Mingwei guards came forward and surrounded the two. However, they didn't dare to move Chi Jingxi, but helped the crying Su Mingwei up and quickly led him away from the crowd.

Wen Yantong was also taken aback. She looked at the puddle of blood on the ground, and was disappointed that Chi Jingxi only hit him once. He should have given him a few more punches and broken all of Su Mingwei's teeth.

Chi Jingxi didn't order anyone to stop Su Mingwei from leaving, but he knew that this matter was not over yet.

He wiped the back of his hands which were stained with blood with the brocade handkerchief, handed over by the servant beside him, casually threw it away, and then walked to Wen Yantong's side.

He maintained his frosty expression, but his breathing had eased the moment he paused his steps. Chi Jingxi lowered his eyes to look at Wen Yantong’s face, and without saying anything, he forward and exited from the crowd.

Wen Yantong followed behind him in an inconspicuous manner, making sure no one noticed her movements.

Chi Jingxi stopped walking when they walked half the length of the street.

Looking up, Wen Yantong noticed that Chi Jingxi had stopped in front of a medical clinic.

He turned his head, glanced at her, and silently stepped into the medical clinic after lifting the curtain at the door.

His guards remained outside, guarding the entrance. Wen Yantong and the servants were a step behind, but continued to follow Chi Jingxi inside.

There weren’t many patients in the clinic, only Wang Qin and another man. Wang Qin's face was a variety of colors, blue, black and red, and extremely swollen. He was lying on the bed with his eyes closed, it was hard to tell if he was unconscious or not.

Wen Yantong hurried forward and saw the doctor walking towards the backyard. She stopped him and asked, "Doctor, how is my cousin's injury? Have you examined him?"

The doctor replied without turning his head back, "Miss, don't worry, it's mostly skin-deep abrasions. I'm going to prepare the medicine, he'll be better once we apply it onto him." After speaking, he lifted the curtain and left.

Wen Yantong walked to Wang Qin's side and called out a few times in a muted voice, "Second Elder Cousin, can you hear me?"

Wang Qin was probably still conscious; he moved his fingers and made a vague sound. Although she couldn't hear what he was saying, Wen Yantong was relieved to have verified his wellbeing.

When she turned her head back, Wen Yantong saw Chi Jingxi standing on the side with a gloomy expression; the corners of his mouth were curled down, and with his arms crossed in front of his chest, it was a typical ‘I’m very upset’ expression.

The other patient was so frightened by Chi Jingxi’s presence that he quickly fled with his prescribed medicine.

Wen Yantong couldn't help laughing as she said to him, "I haven't seen Danli gege for a long time. Now that we met today, how can you run over and make faces at me without even eating?"

Chi Jingxi was naturally angry. After he finally eschewed himself from the Painting Exhibition and ran out to find Wen Yantong, only to find out that she had visited it by herself. Just before he had told his parents that he would never come, only to eat his own words and make an appearance.

Once he arrived, even before he could eat a meal, Chi Jingxi saw the scene of Wen Yantong ‘hitting it off’ with Wang Qin, some cousin of hers who popped out of nowhere. There was no reason for him to remain calm.

However when he heard her address him as ‘Danli gege’, no matter how vexed Chi Jingxi was, his anger soon deflated like a needle against a balloon. Regardless, he had to maintain some dignity, so his expression was stern as Chi Jingxi replied, "I'm full of anger, why bother eating?"

Wen Yantong took two steps forward, grabbed his arm, and continued to tease with a smile, "Wow, gege is so cool! Then the next time we eat together, I will provoke you first. This way, you won’t fight me over the meal."

Chi Jingxi pinched her cheek. "You can't say something nice? When have I ever fought over a meal with you?"

Wen Yantong said, "Then don't be angry, okay? Let me tell you something that’ll appease you."

Chi Jingxi lightly commanded, "Say it."

Wen Yantong looked at him, and paused for a moment before saying, "I miss you so much... We haven't seen each other for twelve days."

Chi Jingxi's eyes widened, and the strength in his hand seemed to have weakened. He felt Wen Yantong’s burning gaze on him, heating his ears red, so he hastily looked away, hiding the flustered look in his eyes.

Wen Yantong smiled and tilted her head to look at him. "Don't you miss me too, Little Marquis? Didn't you say you would come to see me, why after all this waiting, you never came?"

Chi Jingxi replied after a momentary pause, "I’ve always wanted to come find you, but there’s always something that keeps me from leaving."

Of course Wen Yantong knew that Chi Jingxi had many matters to attend to, so she replied, "It's okay. Since you didn't come to find me, I came to you."

Only then did Chi Jingxi turn to look at her. "You came here… to see me?"

Wen Yantong nodded frankly. "Yes, I heard that this was an exhibition hosted by Marquis’ Mansion. I assumed you came back to attend this, so I came here to find you."
