Chapter 130 Am I too fierce? (2)

Chi Jingxi continued to walk around his dormitory, seemingly without any intention of sleeping. Because Wen Yantong didn’t dare to fall asleep before him, she did her best trying to keep her eyelids open and waited for Chi Jingxi to finish walking around.

Unfortunately Chi Jingxi acted like he had never been to this dorm before. He kept wandering around, touching almost everything; it was a baffling sight.

At last, Wen Yantong could no longer hold on. She opened her mouth and persuaded, "Little Marquis, there’s morning class tomorrow, it’s better to go to bed earlier."

Chi Jingxi did not heed her suggestion. "Then go to sleep, don’t bother me."

Wen Yantong sighed but continued to wait. She sat on the couch, resting her cheek on her right fist, and slowly dozed off. Just as she was about to slip into deep sleep, Wen Yantong heard Chi Jingxi calling her.

She hurriedly opened her eyes, but before she stood up, she saw Chi Jingxi coming into the room with a book. The book was flipped open, he held it in one hand and asked Wen Yantong, "Did you write this?"

Wen Yantong took a closer look, nodded and replied, "Yes."

But this book was from a while back. At that time, her penmanship was not very stable and every character was crooked. These were the words that Li Boyuan had constantly criticized her for.

So she wanted to explain, "But these are..."

However, Chi Jingxi didn't give her this chance. "With your essays written like this, it’s no wonder Teacher Li is so angry. Teacher Li has been studying literature all his life, he is of great erudition and scholarship, and most of the children he taught are officials in the court. Your essay jumps all over the place, the sentences are superficial, and the characters are so crooked that it’s almost illegible. This is a total embarrassment for Teacher Li."

Wen Yantong: ...Should I kowtow to Li Boyuan and admit my fault?

"I will practice more in the future." Wen Yantong answered weakly.

"Well, it's great that you have motivation to improve." Chi Jingxi closed the book and continued in a calm tone, "Lucky for you, I’ll be staying in the Academy at the moment."

Feeling this was a Heaven-sent opportunity, Wen Yantong immediately latched onto Chi Jingxi’s golden thigh. "Then can you teach me, Little Marquis? Although I am a little slow, I will earnestly study."

Chi Jingxi hummed, and replied in a lazy nasally voice, "It's not impossible."

Wen Yantong exclaimed happily, "Then I will move my things back tomorrow and continue to sleep here?"

Chi Jingxi's eyebrows relaxed, and the irritability that had lingered in his dark eyes all night finally dissipated. He threw the book into Wen Yantong's arms and said, "I'll send two servants to help you carry it back tomorrow."

After speaking, he walked towards his bed, and stretched his body lightly, as if he was ready to go to sleep.

Wen Yantong was overjoyed. She followed closely behind him, touched Chi Jingxi's hair, and found that it was all completely dried as it softly laid on his body.

Chi Jingxi lifted the blanket on the bed and got inside. Wen Yantong graciously played the role of servant, and extinguished all the lamps in the room, leaving just one small lamp by the bedside.

Wen Yantong also took off her outer coat, let down her long hair, and got onto the couch. This couch was much softer than the previous one, even softer than the bed, almost like laying on a cloud. There was a stove burning in the room, it was so warm that she didn't dare to cover herself too tightly.

Chi Jingxi was probably quite tired because his breathing became steady in only a short moment after laying in bed. Wen Yantong couldn't help but inwardly call him out: Since you're sleepy, then go to bed early! Why wander around looking for trouble?

Holding a soft blanket in her arms, Wen Yantong let out a quiet sigh. She closed her eyes and fell asleep after a while.

Later that night, one of the servants came in to add charcoal to the stove. Although his movements were very light, it still woke Wen Yantong up. Because she was feeling very thirsty, she got out of bed and went to the table to pour herself some tea. The tea was no longer warm, but because it was placed in a room with a heater, it was not very cold. Wen Yantong drank a cupful and felt her stomach feel a bit chilled from the cold tea.

She rubbed her stomach, feeling a little more awake because of the cold drink. She placed the tea cup down lightly and looked to the other side of the room.

Wen Yantong walked in and took a look, and sure enough, half of Chi Jingxi's quilt was not on his body. He probably didn’t enjoy having the room heated so warmly and only did it in regards to her weaker physique.

So after falling asleep, Chi Jingxi started to feel too warm and subconsciously kicked half his quilt off in his sleep. Wen Yantong tiptoed over and readjusted Chi Jingxi’s quilt.

Just as she moved the quilt, her wrist was suddenly grabbed. The hand against her skin almost burned her with a scorching heat, completely startling Wen Yantong. When she looked up, she found that Chi Jingxi had slowly opened his eyes.

He seemed drowsy, expressionless but there was a hint of tenderness hidden in his eyes. He looked at Wen Yantong and lightly called her name in a lauguid voice, "Wen Yantong..."

Wen Yantong had never seen Chi Jingxi like this before. He was not cold and arrogant as usual nor was he calm and peaceful like the time he was injured at Nian’an Temple. Instead, he was full of emotions, and when he opened his mouth, his hoarse voice seemed to be billed with gentle and pure affection.

Wen Yantong's heart softened. She lowered her body and asked softly, "What's wrong?"

Chi Jingxi blinked slowly and asked, "Why did you move away? Do you really think I'm too fierce?"

Wen Yantong was stunned for a moment but then quickly realized: Chi Jingxi was restless all night because he was troubled about this matter!

From his short question, Wen Yantong could basically guess what had happened. Mu Yang most likely had teased Chi Jingxi after she moved away, saying that he was too fierce and scared her away.

This was not too far from the truth. Wen Yantong really moved away because she was afraid that Chi Jingxi would get angry again.

However, when this question left Chi Jingxi's mouth, there was a hint of grievance. Wen Yantong’s heart melted and she replied softly, "No, I moved away because I was afraid of disturbing the Little Marquis’s rest, not because you are fierce."

After hearing this, Chi Jingxi loosened the strength in his hand. He patted Wen Yantong's head, then pulled his quilt back up, closed his eyes and said in a low voice, "Go to sleep."

Wen Yantong replied dully, then turned around and left. When she was lying on the couch, she could still feel the warmth left by Chi Jingxi's palm on her head.
