CH 136 An Eye For An Eye
Hawkins raced across the sky in the Knopfler, the first ghost ship ever owned by the Walway Pirates. A few decades ago and still a penniless boy, Hawkins had encountered the stranded ghost ship in the mist-filled Death Haven and made a contract with it.
It stood to reason that the relationship between Captain Hawkins and the Knopfler should be closer than that of Griselda and the Jenny, but in fact, the Knopfler was the most taciturn of all the ghost ships, and only sometimes when the pirates were too impertinent did she shake them all into the sea, but otherwise she was an elegant dame. The pirates often wondered whether the ghost ships contracted by Hawkins and Griselda were reversed, and that the Jenny was the contracted ship of Hawkins.
But today, the Knopfler and her owner tore off the mask to reveal their fangs.
She disdained to quibble with mortals, because her battlefield was in the sky. This was a warship that should have swept across the sky more than a thousand years ago and terrified the gods.
She was not a lady, she was a bloody lunatic exactly like Hawkins.
The angel in armor held a fiery sword in his hand, and the wings of light behind him burned extremely bright outlines on the edge of the clouds. The Knopfler's 100-meter-long iron wings fluttered, and the dark clouds in the sky rolled and surged. A sword light of nearly a thousand meters cut through the air and passed by the side of the Dragon Wing Battleship. Even with the protection of the Knopfler's shield, Hawkins could still clearly feel the high heat that seemed to contain billions of furnaces. He was almost burned to ashes, but there was no fear on his face.
"Mate, you did a good job."
He grinned a ferocious smile.
When the angel swung his sword to attack Hawkins, Charles had already swooped down from a higher sky in his battleship, the black iron dragon wings spread out straight. Unlike a real dragon, the Dragon Wing Battleship had no sharp claws or fangs, so those alchemists who were both geniuses and lunatics transformed its wings into one of the important attack weapons used a thousand years ago.
For a battleship, its dragon wings were not only wings that allow mortals to fly into the sky, but also two long blades that were used to slaughter gods!
The air burst, and the alchemical formation on the iron wings lit up, as if thunder were rolling on the dragon wings. The iron pieces shrank or protruded, and in an instant, icy blades grew from the edge of the dragon's wing. As the battleship tilted and rotated counterclockwise, the dragon wings turned into two huge sickles that have never been seen before, spinning and twisting, and harvesting life.
Even the angel didn't have time to escape.
He folded his six wings, and the snow-white wings wrapped him like a cocoon, forming a shield. The moment the iron wings collided with the angel, there was a burst of noise in the ears of the people on the ground, as if someone was scraping metal blades against each other in their minds, sounding both harsh and unpleasant. The rapid and violent airflow blasted from a high altitude, whistling across the ground, and all the flagpoles in the Eagle Mouth Bay Castle were at the same time snapped and the flags torn into pieces by the wind. The people who were chanting loudly in the square were as if they had just woken up from a long dream. They pulled away from the strange atmosphere and fled around screaming.
When Charles forced the angel to fold its wings and enter a defensive posture, Hawkins flew over from a distance.
The Knopfler's ship bow was reorganized and opened with a roar. A long chain whipped through the air and was tightly wrapped around the angel's body.
The moment the chains wrapped around the angel, bright white flames quickly spread up along the chains. The fire was pure white, but it could burn a person to ashes in an instant.
Black mist poured out from the Knopfler, sticking onto the holy fire and melting each other.
"Let's go to hell together!"
Captain Hawkins laughed out loud.
The angel felt a rare uneasiness in that loud laughter, and he wanted to shake the iron chain away.
The fourth extraordinary ship tonight appeared quietly.
In the dark clouds piled up like a mountain, a pitch-black ship appeared. Unlike the Dragon Wing Battleships, the blackness of this ship revealed layers of distorted malice and evil——this was the ship of the lord of "greed and ill-gotten wealth" who released it into the mortal world. At the beginning, the Walway pirates mistook it for a ghost ship, and almost all died because of the curse.
After the King regained the authority of "greed and ill-gotten wealth", it became the new warship of the Walway pirates.
It was hidden in the dark clouds, and it didn't join the battlefield until now. It had only one function——
To open the gates of hell.
The ship crashed into the angel, and the black mist surged out in an instant, forming a huge vortex, and the gate of hell gradually rose in the vortex. At the moment when the gate of hell opened, the angel finally spread his wings again and shook off the chains that bound him.
The moment it spread its wings, he saw a ferocious smile.
Hawkins drove the Dragon Wing Battleship and crashed over. His black slanted hat was already blown away by the strong wind, his hair flying wildly in the torrent, and his eyes were filled with a hysterical anger. He was here for revenge, and a thing like revenge was unscrupulous from the very beginning, regardless of any costs.
The Dragon Wing Battleship collided with the angel, and black mist and white light spread to the surroundings at the same time. Hawkins and the angel passed through the gate of hell, followed by Charles.
There was only a remnant of white light and dark clouds in the sky, and the angel and Dragon Wing Battleships had all disappeared.
The final battlefield would now be in hell.
………………
Wall of Hundred Insects.
People from Legrand's No. 1 Military Industry Department saw a vortex appearing in the sky from a distance, and a white light fell from the vortex, followed by two Dragon Wing Battleships.
"You are just mortals, you can't kill me."
Finally, there were wounds on the angel's wings. He stood on the ground where the magma flowed, holding a sword in his hand.
The Dragon Wing Battleship landed on the black rock, and the black iron dragon wings were also broken. Especially the Knopfler, it had withstood almost all the holy flames head-on, including when it smashed the angel into the gate of hell, Boeing the brunt of the angel's frontal assault. Now white flames burned on the sails of the battleship, and as it landed on the rocks, its dragon's head was held high, proud but feeble.
"Don't be so full of yourself."
Hawkins grinned fiercely, and he wore a bone ring on his hand.
"Who said we can't kill you?"
He jumped off the ship, drew the sword from his waist, and rushed towards the angel on the lava.
"You signed a contract with hell?! You are all fallen! You should all be judged!" The angel's angry voice sounded.
On the other side of the black rocky beach stood a figure quietly. It was a young man with black hair and red eyes. His scarlet pupils have the characteristics of birds, and there were crow's wings on his back. He held a crescent-shaped scimitar in his hand. Mela, who was finally free from restraints, watched the battle without interfering.
He must ensure that this angel could not escape, but unless necessary, he would not rashly intervene in the battle between the two humans and the angel.
An eye for an eye avenger would rather die together with their enemies than want others to intervene.
Blood, bones, shouts, roars.
The gap between mortals and gods was finally narrowed infinitely at this moment. The proud angel was bitten by mortals and dragged down from the clouds. A most primitive and brutal battle now took place between the humans and gods. The angel who regarded mortals as ants had to cross swords with ants at this time, and they finally stood on the same stage.
Mela quietly watched the figures who were fighting together, and seemed to vaguely understand His Majesty's feelings for the country named "Legrand".
Drip, drip.
The angel's long sword pierced Hawkins' abdomen, and the dragon bone dagger held by Charles pierced the angel's heart. He twisted his wrist and crushed the angel's heart inch by inch.
It was as if endless white light burst out from the angel's body, and the world was covered with snow.
Charles was overturned by the air wave, hit the rocks, and rolled to the ground. He covered his eyes with his hands, and when the white light gradually faded, the flying feathers circled and finally fell powerlessly onto the magma.
He watched the angel fall, watched the angel being swallowed by the tumbling magma, and twitched the corner of his mouth trying to show a smile, but in the end he couldn't: "Hawkins! Hawkins!"
Charles stumbled to his feet and walked towards Hawkins. He was lying on the ground with his arms outstretched.
"Hawkins!"
Charles' voice changed a bit.
"I'm alive, I won't die."
Hawkins replied lazily. He raised his hand and touched his abdomen, where the angel's final blow left him with a large round hole, such that even the spine and internal organs had disappeared.
"No, that's not right, it doesn't seem to count as being alive."
The breath of the living was gone from him, and the nature of the undead was replacing it.
In the distance, the Knopfler gently flapped her broken dragon wings, making a low and gentle sound.
"That fellow Buckingham owes me another sum." He said, the back of his head hit the stone heavily, the dark red sky was imprinted in his pupils, and he vaguely saw two young princes and two still unknown pirates standing together on the deck of a ship, enthusiastically planning to rob Bressi's merchant ships.
It was such a long time ago.
………………
The real storm came, as if the night of St. Val a thousand years ago was repeated. God felt His child die, so He was angry and sad.
Except for the Dragon Wing Battleship, all ships were struggling in this storm. The naval battle had been forcibly terminated. No ordinary ship could fight in such a storm. There was only one result if they tried, and that was to capsize and drown with the enemy.
Griselda stood quietly on the deck. After the angel and Hawkins and Charles disappeared into the sky, Eagle's Mouth Bay had already fallen into darkness again, but at this time the sun was slowly rising from the sea.
The phantom image of the ancient snake, the ancestor of the witches, became more and more clear in her mind. The giant snake circled around, raised its head high, and watched the scene with her through its vertical pupils through her eyes.
Her vision and hearing were sharper than ever. Amidst the waterfall-like rainstorm and the howling wind, she could clearly distinguish all the sounds in the entire sea, including the roar of the commander of the First Holy See Corps opposite.
"What's going on?! Why did the Throne of God rise by itself?"
"What happened!"
……
"The Throne of God."
Griselda repeated the words once, and she put her hands on the rudder, her green pupils faintly beginning to shrink and become thinner.
Rising out of the crescent-shaped Eagle's Mouth Bay waa a wharf somewhat similar to hell's in the Blackstone Castle, but it was not black. It was white all over, emitting a scorching bright light. When it rose above the water surface, the icy sea water in the harbor began to boil, and the vast mist evaporated upward.
"Can God be angry and sad?"
Griselda asked with a chuckle.
She now understood why the Lowland Alliance and the Holy Court had not launched a war against Legrand for so long.
——They were waiting for the "Throne of God" to be completed.
"Jenny."
Griselda gently stroked the rudder of the ship, and she stared at the pier, with a sharpness in her eyes that was definitely not inferior to Hawkins and the others.
"It's time for our turn."
