Using a Wok to Reorganize Life and Fly to Immortality Intro / Terms to know

Translator: Serena Love

Hi all,

I don't usually read Xianxia or Chinese Immortal Heroes fairy tales so much, so please bear with me.

As usual in this kind of story, the protagonists are cultivators who seek to become immortal beings. Along the way, there would be supernatural powers, magical elements, and incredible levels of strength.

This novel is a little bit light-hearted and even goes on the ridiculous side. So please imagine it as if you were watching anime. I think of it as "Jojo Bizarre Adventure" mixed with "Food Wars."

The following are the levels of cultivation in this novel. (Thanks to https://immortalmountain.wordpress.com/glossary/wuxia-xianxia-xuanhuan-terms/)

1. Qi Refining - the initial stage of cultivation which involves learning to absorb Qi from the natural world and refining it inside the body.

Usually divided into levels, such as level 1, 2, 3 and so on.

Note: Qi is the spiritual energy that exists in all things. The cultivation of Qi is a major goal in Xianxia novels.

2. Foundation Building– the stage after Qi Refining. Once a cultivator's Qi crosses a certain threshold, they will be able to break through to this stage.

This stage is divided into the early stage, middle stage, late stage, and peak stage (I think? Correct me if I'm wrong. This is so difficult).

3. Core Formation - the stage after Foundation Building. The goal of this stage is to form a Golden Core by using their Dantian as a container.

Note: Dantian is the region in the body, usually below the navel, where a person's Qi is concentrated.

4. Yuan Ying or the Nascent Soul – the stage after Core Formation. The Nascent Soul resembles a child or mini person and resides in the Dantian, typically sitting in a meditative position. In some novels, the Nascent Soul can travel outside the body and is like a second life for cultivators – if their main body dies, their consciousness can continue to exist in the Nascent Soul.

5. Immortal Ascension – the final stage wherein the cultivator becomes an immortal.

---

This story mainly takes place in Nanxun Academy, a school for beginner cultivators. There are multiply "dormitories" or "houses" in this academy which is called "peak." The protagonist is from Zhiqiong peak, and there would be many rival houses in the same school.

Think of it like the four houses in Harry Potter series.

There will be one Master for each peak, who function as their head teacher and commander.

Everyone in the same school will be Senior Brothers/Sisters or Junior Brothers/Sisters. Everyone under one peak will get ranked based on the timing of entering the peak, i.e. First Senior Brother means he is the first student who entered the Zhiqiong peak. The MC is the second senior sister, which means she entered the Zhiqiong peak second, and so on.

They will call a master of a different peak "Uncle/Aunt Master," and a master will call students from a different peak "Junior Niece/Nephew." They are not related by blood.

Everyday, each students will leave their peak to study subjects of their liking. Each cultivators usually have a certain specialization i.e. sword art, musical art, medical studies, elemental magic, etc. In some novels, each peak will specialize in one art, i.e. Misty Peak specialize in sword art, etc.

I think that's it. I will add more explanation if I find more confusion in the future.

I hope you enjoy the story!
