Chapter 211 Day of Mutiny

Qiao Jiajin’s expression darkened. After a brief pause, he suddenly stood, his movements swift and decisive, heading straight for the classroom door with a sharp {whoosh}.

"Fists," Qi Xia called after him. "What are you planning to do?"

"I’m going to save her," Qiao Jiajin replied without hesitation. "Kung Fu gal fought alongside me. She’s my comrade."

"You’re just one person. How do you intend to take on all of {Passage to Heaven} alone?" Qi Xia asked.

"I…" Qiao Jiajin hesitated for a moment, then smirked. "Swindler lad, aren’t you with me? I’m not alone. There are two of us."

"Alright. Since you consider me one of your own, I’ll share a plan with you," Qi Xia said, his tone steady. "Doctor Zhao, Lin Qin, Han Yimo, this plan will require your cooperation as well."

At his words, everyone leaned in, their expressions turning serious as they gathered closer, fully attentive.

...

Qiao Jiajin slowly pushed open the door to the infirmary. Zhang Shan was no longer present, and only Li Xiangling sat, reading a worn-out wuxia novel.

"Qiao ge?" Li Xiangling instantly smiled upon seeing Qiao Jiajin. She closed the book, tidied her hair, and straightened her posture. "You’re here?"

"Hi, Kung Fu gal." Qiao Jiajin slowly sat down beside Li Xiangling. "What are you reading?"

"A not-so-interesting wuxia novel." Li Xiangling smiled and handed the book over. "Have you read it before?"

Qiao Jiajin glanced at the title of the book and shook his head.

"What’s it about?" he asked casually.

"It’s a bunch of nonsense…" Li Xiangling laughed awkwardly. "It’s about this great hero from the jianghu—handsome, skilled in combat, always rescuing damsels in distress. Every woman in the book falls for him, and people are constantly asking him, {have you yet to be betrothed}?"

"Haha." Qiao Jiajin chuckled, shaking his head in disbelief. He’d never come across such a far-fetched novel before.

"Have you yet to be betrothed?" Li Xiangling asked, her grin widening. "Qiao ge, isn’t that amusing?"

"Yeah, it's pretty amusing. Then what happened?"

"Have you yet to be betrothed?" Li Xiangling repeated.

"Have I yet...?" He looked up at Li Xiangling, but then noticed her cheeks had turned slightly red.

Qiao Jiajin was startled, quickly standing up, his face a picture of astonishment. "Huh? What are you trying…?" His gaze darted nervously between Li Xiangling and the room, clearly flustered. "Kung Fu gal, am I misunderstanding something?"

"Of—Of course..." Li Xiangling smiled awkwardly, though there was a hint of disappointment in her eyes. "Qiao ge, I was just telling you about the story in the book! Where did your mind go?"

"Oh, phew." Qiao Jiajin finally relaxed and sat back down. "My bad, I must have misheard."

"Yeah, that’s alright..."

The two fell into silence for a moment. Li Xiangling turned her gaze toward the dark night outside the window and then asked, "Qiao ge, did you come to see me for something?"

"No," Qiao Jiajin shook his head. "Someone's trying to kill you tonight. I’m here to protect you."

"Oh, then... huh?" Li Xiangling didn’t immediately process what he said. "Someone’s trying to kill me?!"

"Shh, keep it down." Qiao Jiajin placed a finger on his lips. "Kung Fu gal, do you trust me?"

"Mhm..." Li Xiangling cautiously nodded.

"Then just relax and get some rest. With me here, nothing will happen to you." As he spoke, Qiao Jiajin lay down in another bed, looking unusually at ease.

The distant rustling of insects filled the air, while the room remained eerily quiet.

The fire slowly burned out, but neither of them made a move to reignite it. They simply lay silently in opposite corners of the room.

Li Xiangling couldn’t seem to rest her eyes. She wasn’t worried about someone coming to kill her. No, she was more curious—what kind of person was Qiao Jiajin, really?

Why was it that despite having a body covered in tattoos, he didn’t make people feel repulsed? They had only gone through a game together, yet this man was so strange, causing her emotions to spiral in ways she couldn’t control.

"Qiao ge, are you asleep?" Li Xiangling asked, her voice barely a whisper.

Qiao Jiajin didn’t respond.

Li Xiangling reluctantly closed her eyes, feeling a bit mad at herself for being so forward.

Time passed slowly, and the bonfires in the entire teaching building began to die out. As she listened to the faint creaking and chirping sounds outside the window, Li Xiangling found herself dozing off.

It had been the fourth day since arriving in {End Point}, and this was the first time she felt at ease.

She wasn’t sure how much time had passed when she suddenly felt an itch on her arm. Half-asleep, she opened her eyes and saw a shadow standing beside her, gently stroking her arm.

Though she was still dazed, she knew the room only held herself and Qiao Jiajin.  Yet, something felt off. She had once touched Qiao Jiajin’s hand, and it had been intensely warm. But this hand in front of her felt chillingly cold.

"Qiao…ge?" Li Xiangling whispered.

The shadow remained silent, its hands continuing to roam over her arm, as though searching for something.

"Hey..." Feeling the increasing coldness of the hands, Li Xiangling started to feel afraid. "Wh—Who are you?"

Before she could receive an answer, another figure emerged from the darkness, swinging a chair and hurling it directly at the window.

{Crash}!!

A tremendous noise erupted, and the room's glass window shattered into pieces. The shadow in front of Li Xiangling visibly startled, turning to flee. But Qiao Jiajin had already been waiting by the door.

In the next moment, several beams of light suddenly shot through the window. Clearly, there were people outside who were shining flashlights directly into the room.

Li Xiangling instantly recognized the shadow before her—it was Chu Tianqiu.

He was holding a filthy syringe in his hand.

"Tianqiu lad, what do you think you're doing?" Qiao Jiajin asked with a smile. "Came to visit the patient?"

The figures holding flashlights slowly made their way over.

Chu Tianqiu turned his head, and his expression immediately changed to one of unease.

Yun Yao, Zhang Shan, Qi Xia, Lin Qin, Zhao Haibo, Han Yimo... It seemed like none of them had been sleeping, as though they had been waiting specifically for him.

"You–You all..."

Before Chu Tianqiu could speak, Qiao Jiajin immediately shouted down the hallway, "Everyone wake up! We're in big trouble!"

Within moments, the classrooms erupted in commotion, and people began throwing on their clothes, peeking out into the corridor.

By the time Chu Tianqiu snapped back to reality, he was nearly surrounded by the entirety {Passage to Heaven}.

Qi Xia slowly stepped forward, casting a look full of unspoken meaning at Chu Tianqiu.

"What are you doing?" he asked.

"I'm here to visit a patient," Chu Tianqiu replied without changing his expression.

"Oh? Leaving aside why you'd come in the middle of the night to visit... what about that syringe in your hand?"

"This?" Chu Tianqiu looked down at the syringe, "It's just some antibiotics, to prevent infection in the wounds."

"I suggest you think carefully before speaking," Qi Xia said, pulling a man in a white coat from behind him. "We have a doctor present."

Chu Tianqiu blinked slightly at the sight.

Qi Xia knew that his objective had been accomplished.

Xu Liunian, this problem has been perfectly set up for you—now, how will you resolve it?
