Chapter 10: Chinese Savory Crepe

"You're not a celebrity here."

Shen Yue didn’t know what was wrong with him. He felt upset when he got up early this morning and even more panicked when he saw Tang Qiaoqiao's brilliant smiling face.

Tang Qiaoqiao wasn’t sure what he was thinking and casually asked, "Did you take the wrong medicine?"

She didn't remember offending him.

"You’re the one who just took the wrong medicine," Shen Yue was venting his anger. "I'm reminding you to remember your identity. You were outside all day yesterday. Why didn’t you make breakfast when you came back?"

"It was so hard to get you to eat before, but now you are taking the initiative?"

"Stop talking nonsense. I'm hungry."

"Then what do you want to eat? Are pan-fried buns okay? They sold well yesterday. Have you watched the show?"

When Shen Yue heard this, he felt even worse. "Don't make fried buns. No buns and no spicy soup."

Tang Qiaoqiao was happy. "Ha, you did watch it!"

Shen Yue couldn't bear it anymore. How is that the main point? He sneered, "Who has time to watch that stupid show? Go cook, and remember, no fried buns."

'Dog men are really hard to serve.' Tang Qiaoqiao snorted, ‘Today you ignore me, oh my; but tomorrow, I'll be out of your reach, high.’

Although Shen Yue's anger was inexplicable, the increase in the number of fans still made Tang Qiaoqiao extraordinarily joyful. She was in a good mood and had a particularly good appetite, so she decided to make savory crepes.

The traditional savory crepe uses mung bean flour. She added water and made a delicate batter, before spreading it onto a hot pan. Then, she knocked two eggs and used a ladle to gently strew the egg and mix the white and yolk on the batter. When the egg was half cooked, she sprinkled it with chopped green onion, then picked up the dough on both sides, turned it over, and continued grilling.

Next, she brushed the cooked crepe with sauce. The sauce was made by blending sweet hoisin sauce, fermented bean curd, and homemade hot sauce. The particular level of spice gave it a rich and mellow taste.

Tang Qiaoqiao didn't add the crisp commonly associated with traditional savory crepe but made fried dough sticks in advance. It was golden and soft.

Only using the fried dough sticks as a topping wasn’t enough. She also added deep-fried pork tenderloin, crispy on the outside while remaining tender on the inside. Finally, she added two slices of emerald green lettuce before folding the crepe in half.

This refined version of the savory crepe couldn’t be held with one hand. Instead, it required both hands to bite down. The glutinous skin, the crispy dough sticks, the tenderloin, the fragrant sauce, and the fresh lettuce blended perfectly together.

There was a saying that if you plan for a day in the morning, you have to start with a savory crepe.

Tang Qiaoqiao took a bite and thought of her newly-introduced fans, so she took a picture of the savory crepe in her hand to share.

Tang Qiaoqiao v: "Today's breakfast: The luxurious version of savory crepe with double eggs, tenderloin, and dough fritters!"

【A food crit so early in the morning. Poor me can only eat dry bread (cry) 】

【The savory crepe is missing a big bite. I can imagine Qiaoqiao's appearance of taking one big bite hahaha】

【How come only one hand is exposed? You need to show your face】

【It is recommended that Qiaoqiao make a short video or live broadcast next time】

'Make a video or live broadcast?' This idea seemed good, so Tang Qiaoqiao remembered it.

Shen Yue glanced at his share of huge savory crepe on the dinner plate and looked at Tang Qiaoqiao, who was eating happily.

Tang Qiaoqiao blinked her big eyes. "What's wrong, weren't you yelling about being hungry?"

Shen Yue was silent.

He was born in a wealthy family, and his meals were always prepared according to nutrition. They were exquisitely refined, required complicated table etiquette, and he had to mind his appearance when eating. Furthermore, he went abroad to study in his junior high school. During that time, He only ate western food all year round. He had never touched street food like a savory crepe in his life.

And this crepe was too thick. He looked at Tang Qiaoqiao and looked at the plate again. He didn't feel that he would be able to tell her. Tang Qiaoqiao looked at him like an alien. "You really haven't eaten this? Your life is too sad."

Shen Yue glared at her. "The way you are eating is really ugly, so eat it somewhere else."

"Well, I won't look at you. You can eat whatever you want." Tang Qiaoqiao ignored Shen Yue's typical arrogant face. What's wrong with her eating? It tastes better to eat with big mouthfuls.

Tang Qiaoqiao turned and looked at the garden downstairs. The garden was deserted, leaving only empty mounds. Aunt Wang said that there were many exotic flowers and greeneries in the garden, but since Shen Yue's accident, he asked the housekeeper to clear the back garden without leaving a single plant.

"Shen Yue, can I use the back garden?" Tang Qiaoqiao swallowed the last bite of her savory crepe before asking Shen Yue.

"Cough, cough, cough..." Shen Yue was eating vigorously and took a large bite, but Tang Qiaoqiao suddenly turned her head and startled him. The food dislodged into his trachea and made him cough violently.

"Eat slowly. No one is chasing you." Tang Qiaoqiao quickly picked up the water glass on the table and handed it to him.

Shen Yue gulped down the water and took a deep breath. He had almost choked to death just now.

This woman was truly his nemesis.

"The corner of your mouth is stained with sauce, like a little cat I've seen before." Tang Qiaoqiao giggled.

Shen Yue’s face flushed red from anger and embarrassment, "It's all your fault. What you made was a messy breakfast." It made him so embarrassed.

Tang Qiaoqiao was also angry. "If I sell it, it would still sell well."

'Don't eat my cooking if you have the ability.'

But she still didn't say this sentence because she saw Shen Yue's beard stained with sauce. The balloon of anger that was bulging in her heart suddenly softened as if a needle had punctured it.

Shen Yue was once an invincible son of heaven and the future head of the Shen group. Because he had never recovered from the car accident, his rights in the Shen group were gone. Even his wife wasn’t the person he wanted to marry. If it wasn't for her transmigration, who knows what torment he would experience in the hands of the original owner.

He doesn't even want to shave his beard now.

Tang Qiaoqiao didn't speak for a while, so Shen Yue wondered if he said too much. But he only said "broken breakfast," what's the big deal.

He coughed dryly, "Don't make it so thick next time."

"Oh." Tang Qiaoqiao laughed hard.

He really looks more and more like the cat in the Taoist school of her previous life. It was usually arrogant and unfriendly, but was a little cutie when it occasionally softened.

Shen Yue: "What did you want to say?"

Tang Qiaoqiao said excitedly, "I asked if I can use the back garden below? It’s  a waste to just leave it empty."

"Why did you ask, do you want to plant flowers?"

Tang Qiaoqiao waved her index finger. "No, I want to plant vegetables."

"Growing vegetables in this golden villa? Since when was the Shen family short of money?" Shen Yue sneered.

"The vegetables I grow will taste even better than my cooking now," Tang Qiaoqiao raised her head, "However, the most important thing is that it is for you."

Shen Yue froze for a moment and sneered, "It's not my business if you love to eat."

Tang Qiaoqiao decided to show him some of her cards. "Don't you want to stand up again?"

When this topic was mentioned, Shen Yue's face became cold.

"If I said I know a diet therapy which, coupled with a set of secret acupuncture techniques, could heal your legs, would you believe it?"

Shen Yue thought she was talking nonsense — so many of the world's top doctors were helpless with his condition. What could an 18th-line female star possibly do?

"I know you won't believe me now, but you will see later."

Shen Yue didn't believe in diet therapy at all. He just met her candid eyes, thought for a while, and said, "Do whatever you want, but if you make a mess in the garden, don't blame me for trimming it for you."

Tang Qiaoqiao raised the corner of her mouth. "Don't worry."

Tang Qiaoqiao did as she promised. The next morning, she summoned all the servants in the villa to cultivate the garden's mound and make it look like a vegetable garden.

When she was about to start her persistent gardening efforts, two uninvited guests came to the villa—Shen Liang and his mother, who was also Shen Yue's sister-in-law, Hu Hong.

"Aunt Wang, please entertain them first. I will come after I change my clothes." The other party weren’t good people, so she couldn't afford to give them the initiative.”

Shen Liang sat restlessly on the sofa; he didn't want to step into this villa at all.

"Didn't I tell you... but you insisted on coming. Why should I apologize to her?"

Hu Hong was wearing a blue velvet dress with a lofty pearl necklace around her neck, all showing her noble temperament.

She lightly patted his son. "I didn’t want to force you to come, but who knows how your grandmother learned about that matter. I don't want you to do anything, just behave."

Who knows who gossiped and let the old lady across the ocean know that Shen Liang had pushed Tang Qiaoqiao. The old lady called her and scolded her, demanding Shen Liang apologize to his aunt in person.

Being able to climb into the Shen family was already a blessing that Tang Qiaoqiao had cultivated after eight lifetimes, but she dared to pretend to be a tiger. Wait for this sister-in-law to let her know what the rules are.

"Oh, some rare guests." A crisp female voice came from upstairs. Hu Hong and Shen Liang looked up at the same time.

Tang Qiaoqiao wore a champagne-colored slim-fitting long dress with her hair curled behind her head and delicate makeup on her face. She placed her hand on the guardrail and slowly descended down the steps. Shen Liang was stunned by her assertive aura.
