Chapter 64 (2/2)
From that day on, the legendary group chat and some obviously biased members on the forum became the laughingstock in the circle.
Especially since the original poster and the forum admins, who enjoyed the drama, never deleted the thread. Whenever a new member came to the forum and saw the hot thread, they were told one principle: don't judge others, because they might be a wealthy and handsome guy behind the screen, after all, there was now a precedent for that.
Back at the car show, Master Bin’s unease was evident on his face, but no one paid him any mind.
His friend, seeming resolute, led their group over to greet Gu Jinzhi and Lin Xu. Master Bin had no choice but to follow, feeling both curious and embarrassed.
Seeing the two chatting casually by the car in such a relaxed manner, Master Bin felt an inexplicable sense of inferiority. He was afraid to even touch the car, worried about accidentally damaging it and having to pay for repairs.
“Second Young Master Gu, Second Young Master Lin, you’re here to look at the cars too? I’m Chen Chen. I’ve also been to the Xu family to celebrate the elder’s birthday.” Chen Chen mentioned this, as he had no other connections to offer.
Master Bin trailed behind, stealing glances at Gu Jinzhi and Lin Xu.
Gu Jinzhi did not know these people, so he gave a casual nod in acknowledgment. He then continued discussing his thoughts with Lin Xu about which cars he liked.
Chen Chen, feeling embarrassed about lingering, said, “I’ll go check out some other cars now.” With that, he and his group left. At least he had managed to strike up a conversation and make his face somewhat familiar.
Master Bin felt increasingly powerless. He suddenly realized how embarrassing his earlier display of superiority on the forum had been, especially since there were hardly any people he could talk to at the event.
Returning home, he discovered many gays had sent him private messages mocking him. Master Bin realized everyone already knew about his embarrassing situation, so he immediately deactivated his account and felt too embarrassed to hang around on the forum anymore.
But that wasn’t all. The circle was small, and news spread quickly. So, most of the friends he had added also knew it was him, and whenever he chatted with them, their tone felt off. Master Bin essentially experienced a social death.
Meanwhile, Lin Xu and Gu Jinzhi were completely unaware of the commotion.
“Which one do you think is better?” Gu Jinzhi felt the sun was too strong and quickly left with Lin Xu.
Lin Xu systematically analyzed the pros and cons of the cars Gu Jinzhi was interested in, considering factors such as price, performance, and appearance. He was very serious about it.
“But it really depends on which one Zhizhi likes best,” Lin Xu said. After all, personal preference was a significant factor.
In the past, Gu Jinzhi never considered prices or cost-effectiveness when buying things, as he didn’t have to worry about such matters. Since being with Lin Xu, he had come to appreciate the idea of not spending money foolishly just to keep up appearances. His Ah Xu would never do that.
“It’s still early. How about we go watch a movie?” Gu Jinzhi suggested, looking at Lin Xu’s fresh and clean face, feeling a bit restless. He actually wanted to make some moves in the cinema. He heard that many couples would do that.
“Okay.” Lin Xu felt the warmth of Gu Jinzhi’s gaze.
Gu Jinzhi chose a romance film, though his main focus was not on watching the movie but on creating the right atmosphere.
When Gu Jinzhi smiled at him, holding two tickets, Lin Xu sensed something was off. He didn’t say much, though, and accepted with a blush. After all, since they had been together, they had always been quite measured, only occasionally kissing and hugging in private.
Lin Xu had adapted to this rhythm. He no longer felt the need to wait for graduation or other milestones to express his feelings. Sometimes, things just flowed naturally. Zhizhi was enthusiastic, but Lin Xu didn’t dislike it.
A bit of romance now and then was fine.
Gu Jinzhi had planned to make use of the dimly lit back row of the theater to be close to his boyfriend. Besides touching Lin Xu’s face, he wanted to be able to explore other areas discreetly.
Lin Xu sat up straight, mentally preparing himself, and subtly took Zhizhi’s hand. Gu Jinzhi immediately placed his hand on Lin Xu’s thigh.
However, the movie turned out to be a apocalypse romantic film...
The plot revolved around a couple who went on a group tour to an island, only for a sudden outbreak of a disease to occur. The island's flora and fauna began to mutate, causing everyone to fear for their lives.
In this dire situation, the once-sweet couple faced the harsh reality of humanity. After repeated betrayals, they ultimately chose to prioritize the other person's life.
Gu Jinzhi was engrossed in the film, continuing to touch his boyfriend’s thigh throughout. He became increasingly emotional, his face flushed red from trying to remain quiet. Observing this, Lin Xu gently soothed him by rubbing his back, trying to calm him down.
After the movie ended, the audience was abuzz, discussing the themes of human nature and relationships. Though the male lead struggled with selfishness multiple times, he ultimately chose his partner, which many thought was admirable.
Even they, the audience, admitted they might not make the same choices in such dire circumstances. Who wouldn’t want to survive?
Gu Jinzhi, however, was clearly in a different mindset. As someone deeply focused on romance, he didn’t understand the protagonist’s actions and was visibly upset.
Sitting in his seat, his eyes reddened with anger.
“Ah Xu, do you think that guy’s even a man? He actually left his injured girlfriend alone in the cave, even though he knew a wild beast was approaching. If she hadn’t been lucky, she could’ve died there.”
Although the man eventually returned for his girlfriend, that moment of betrayal was enough to rile Gu Jinzhi.
“It’s just a movie, Zhizhi. Don’t be upset. This is how human nature works.” Seeing Zhizhi about to cry from anger, Lin Xu helplessly wiped away his tears with his finger.
Lin Xu could understand. Faced with danger, people often have difficult choices to make, but that didn’t mean he agreed with them. If it were up to him, he’d never hesitate. If he was in a relationship, there shouldn't be any hesitation.
“That’s wrong! If it were me, I’d definitely protect you!” Gu Jinzhi suddenly declared, his face full of determination. If Gu Qi had heard this, he’d probably say that Gu Jinzhi was still too young and naive, thinking he understood love and could bravely charge forward without truly grasping its meaning.
“Alright, it’s just a movie. Don’t take it so seriously — and besides, I’m not a girl,” Lin Xu gently reassured him.
Lin Xu knew that even if Zhizhi were scared or hesitant in a real situation, he would understand and accept it. He never imposed his own principles on others.
“I like you so much,” Gu Jinzhi suddenly confessed with raw emotion. He burried into Lin Xu's chest, staying there for a while to calm down. He had been too immersed in the movie just now, so when he saw the girl about to be devoured by a tiger, Gu Jinzhi's eyes turned red.
Now, being so close to his boyfriend finally put him at ease. Unfortunately, they hadn’t been able to do much more before it was time to take Ah Xu home. Gu Jinzhi was a bit reluctant. Especially after watching that movie, he felt a bit like they were parting ways after a disaster.
When they reached Lin Xu’s house, Gu Jinzhi lingered, pulling Lin Xu back from exiting the door, though he didn’t quite know what to say.
Lin Xu leaned over and gave him a quick kiss. “Zhizhi, be careful when you go home.”
Still, Gu Jinzhi didn’t let him out of the car. He just couldn’t shake the urge to do something to feel closer to Lin Xu.
Suddenly, he asked, “Ah Xu, do you think your big brother’s home right now?”
Lin Xu glanced toward the villa, and saw the light was on in Lin Shen’s room. At this time of night, his older brother was usually home, so he nodded. “Hm, I think he’s in his room.”
These words seemed to open a floodgate, sending a rush of adrenaline through Gu Jinzhi.
Without warning, he grabbed Lin Xu by the neck and kissed him passionately, completely engrossed in the moment. As he straightened up from the driver’s seat, Lin Xu, realizing where this was heading, gently pulled him closer, guiding Gu Jinzhi onto his lap. The car’s temperature began to rise.
Tonight, Gu Jinzhi was especially excited, and the idea that they should take things further — an idea that had always been fleeting before — suddenly burst to the surface, ready to ignite.
After a long, deep kiss, both of them were acutely aware of each other’s reactions. They were a bit nervous, as they hadn't expected things to go this far. Gu Jinzhi's back arched as his chest pressed forward. He didn't know what else to do besides kissing.
Lin Xu, in the heat of the moment, responded instinctively, leaving Gu Jinzhi dazed. Though his rationality was hanging by a thread, he was still shocked when Lin Xu’s hands slid up his waist, lifting his shirt to reveal pale skin and toned abs beneath.
Feeling a chill on his chest, Gu Jinzhi was both bewildered and strangely excited.
He locked eyes with Lin Xu, guiding his boyfriend’s hand to his body, silently urging him to continue. Lin Xu finally understood what he wanted.
The warm touch traced from Gu Jinzhi’s chest down to his abdomen. As Gu Jinzhi looked down, he saw Lin Xu’s head nestled against his chest, and a wave of electricity shot through him. He hadn’t realized how sensitive he was until that moment.
Things would have quickly spiraled out of control — until headlights suddenly flashed directly at them, accompanied by the sharp blare of a car horn.
Gu Jinzhi's mind went blank, thinking, Great, all the romance just vanished.
Lin Xu, equally flustered, quickly stopped what they were doing, pulling Gu Jinzhi’s shirt back down to avoid being seen.
"What do we do? Is it your big brother?" Gu Jinzhi asked in a panic, trying to shift back to his seat.
"It’s fine," Lin Xu responded, far calmer than before. He patted Gu Jinzhi's back reassuringly, telling him to take his time and move slowly, so he wouldn’t twist his ankle in the process.
Both of their lips were swollen, and Gu Jinzhi’s face was still flushed. His skin still felt damp and cool, a clear sign of what they’d been up to. His expression was one of guilt and embarrassment, but his mind kept wandering back to how skilled Lin Xu was at kissing. His legs still felt weak.
Of course, his legs might feel even weaker later. Gu Jinzhi wondered if Lin Shen would beat him up. Logically, he could take him on, but since he was Ah Xu's older brother, wouldn't it be wrong to fight back?
In short, while Gu Jinzhi worried like a little wife, Lin Xu had already opened the car door.
