Villain Boss Chapter 176

Chapter 176: Tit for Tat

Luo Rui’s mocking laughter echoed through the cold interrogation room, lingering for a long time.

Zhong Qian's face paled with fear.

He looked at Luo Rui, then up at Shen Yang.

Shen Yang’s face was expressionless, his eyes cast down as he stared at Luo Rui laughing heartily.

A long pause passed.

Suddenly, he curled his lips, humming a song, and murmured, "It seems that you're eager to die."

He showed no shame at having his thoughts exposed, nor did he show any anger. He lazily ordered, "Carry on."

Luo Rui's triumphant laughter abruptly ended as someone shoved her head into the bucket.

Once again, Shen Yang waited until she was half unconscious from choking before ordering her to be pulled up.

This happened over and over again.

Luo Rui's hair lay disheveled against her cheeks; her face covered in water droplets mixed with her natural tears. However, whenever she was pulled up, she would maintain a mocking expression, staring at Shen Yang as if she were laughing at a joke.

Seeing that Luo Rui was exhausted from the torture, Zhong Qian cautiously stepped forward to persuade Shen Yang, "Captain, if you keep on shoving her head into the water, she'll turn into an idiot. It'll be hard to explain to Marshal Shen. Why don’t you..."

"I got it." Before he could finish, Shen Yang, adjusting the collar of his shirt, replied nonchalantly, "You guys go out first. I need to talk to her."

Talk to her? Was he trying to silence her? Zhong Qian hesitated.

After all, Marshal Shen personally promoted this woman. How was he supposed to explain to Marshal Shen if she were killed?

Glancing at his deputy, Shen Yang said impatiently, "I told you to get out. Didn't you hear me?"

Having just witnessed Shen Yang's torture methods, Zhong Qian didn't want to anger him, so he quickly led the others out.

The only ones left in the interrogation room were the leisurely young man and the prisoner, slumped over the armrests of the chair, gasping for air.

Shen Yang lifted Luo Rui’s chin with the butterfly knife, forcing her to look up at him. Shen Yang's lips curled, his eyes filled with pity as he gazed down at her.

Their eyes met, and Luo Rui's eyes were filled with intense hatred.

Shen Yang chuckled. "Was it awful?"

Luo Rui's voice was hoarse from repeatedly choking on water, but her eyes were still sharp. "What did you say?"

"Soaking in cold water," Shen Yang repeated, squatting down. "It must’ve felt awful, right?"

Luo Rui gritted her teeth and didn't answer.

"I heard that your team left her alone in the lake and ignored her?" The butterfly knife's blade moved slowly, making a bloody mark on her chin. "Jiang Yu said it was your order?"

"Are you avenging Jiang Ranran?" Luo Rui asked instead of answering. "In what capacity? As a brother? Or... a despicable secret admirer?"

Shen Yang raised an eyebrow. "Luo Rui, you're right—I like Jiang Ran."

Not expecting him to admit it so bluntly, Luo Rui stared at him in surprise, squeezing out two words through her teeth. "How disgusting."

This man was Jiang Ranran's biological brother, a blood relative, and he actually said he liked Jiang Ranran?

"Disgusting?" The smile in Shen Yang's eyes became even deeper. "How could it be? A good girl like Ranran deserves to be liked by everyone. Do you think that I’d be ashamed and lose my composure after you guessed my thoughts and said it in front of those people?"

"..."

"You still don't understand, Luo Rui." He sighed softly, suppressing his usual indifference for once, and told her in a gentle voice, "Liking Jiang Ran has never been something I should be ashamed of. In my opinion, she’s just that good, so good that it’s natural for everyone in the world to like her."

"... Stop making excuses for your despicable thoughts, Shen Yang."

She didn't want to hear any compliments about Jiang Ranran, and even less to hear any man say her name with such infatuation—that name had always haunted her, at school, and even after the disaster!

Luo Rui's eyes shone with madness. "Jiang Ranran is your sister! You pervert!"

"Am I... a pervert?" Shen Yang continued to laugh nonchalantly. "Luo Rui, you're actually jealous of Ranran, aren't you?"

Luo Rui's laughter faltered.

Jealous? How could she possibly be jealous of an ordinary person without awakened superpowers, a toy kept by a superhuman?!

Her delicate face contorted into an ugly expression. "I'm jealous of her?" She spoke hoarsely, her handcuffs clacking with agitation. "Why would I be jealous of that loser?"

"It’s because Ranran is loved by people—she effortlessly gets what you've been trying so hard to get."

Luo Rui was stunned and blurted out, "Nonsense!"

What did Jiang Ranran have? Besides seeking refuge with Si Xu, what else did she have?

Even her own grandfather didn't want her anymore, using her as a pawn to deal with Si Xu—was such a life worth her jealousy?

"Nonsense! I'm not jealous of her! Hah, why should I be jealous of her? She’s just worthless trash! She simply pretends to be pitiful to gain sympathy from stupid men like you! Hah, what idiots!"

"Luo Rui." Witnessing her madness, the pity in Shen Yang's eyes became more and more obvious. He stood up and sighed. "You're so pitiful."

Holding the butterfly knife in his hand, he stared at her ankle. "It's about time. Let's end our conversation today."

Sensing Shen Yang’s hostility intuitively, Luo Rui shrank back in her chair. "What are you going to do?!"

"Don't be afraid." He leaned forward slightly, his eyes focused, and the small canine  on the right side of his teeth was looming as he spoke. He was like a big cat hunting, calm and bloodthirsty.

"It's just tit for tat for how you schemed against Ranran."

  ……

Zhong Qian paced back and forth twice at the door of the interrogation room. Feeling irritated, he lit a cigarette.

Before he finished puffing, a shrill scream was heard in the interrogation room, and soon it became quiet again.

It had been a long time since he saw his captain like this, and Zhong Qian's hand holding the cigarette was shaking.

Soon, the door of the interrogation room was opened and Shen Yang walked out.

"She fainted." He took a long breath, stretched himself, and casually ordered, "Take her back and keep a close tab on her. Don't let her escape, understand?"

"Yes, Captain."

The people whom he brought here today were his trusted aides. After receiving the order, they walked directly into the interrogation room and dragged the unconscious Luo Rui back to the dungeon.

Shen Yang looked down at his blood-stained shirt, tugged at the hem with some disgust, and looked at his deputy.

Zhong Qian immediately took off his uniform jacket and handed it to him.

Satisfied with his deputy’s intelligence, Shen Yang thanked him halfheartedly, "Thank you."

He took two steps, then remembered something. "Oh, you handle the rest. Remember not to let that woman say anything unnecessary."

Zhong Qian was miserably vexed. "I got it, Captain."

  ……

The sight of blood cheered Shen Yang up, and he emerged from the interrogation room humming a little tune.

Outside, the sun was warm, and the warmth that fell on him made him feel languid and listless.

The so-called spring fatigue probably described his current state.

Yawning, Shen Yang wrapped his deputy's uniform tightly around him and prepared to go home as he dragged his legs weakly.

Just as he reached the corner of the street, a figure came head-on and threw herself into his arms. Because he dodged sideways, the figure stumbled two steps and fell to the ground.
