Epiphanies of Rebirth Chapter 44 (Part 1)

Pure: Hi thanks so much for everyone’s support, this is the first time I’ve gotten so many comments in one post haha, I’m super honored ^^

The chapters of this novel are super long, so I’ll be splitting the chapters up. At most, every chapter would be split into three, but it’s still more than the normal length of other novels. I’ll be updating this novel twice a week, so it should be okay. Anyways, enjoy~

Chapter 44.1 Why does everyone think he and Xiao Chi had bad blood? He was obviously thinking about how to do ‘this and that’ all day. (Part 1)

Xiao Chi hugged him quietly from behind. With his cheeks pressed against the side of Lin Jingzhe’s face, the two looked like a sweet couple.

Lin Jingzhe enjoyed this moment of intimacy. Xiao Chi's chest was large and broad and he exuded a pleaseant smell. After getting over his initial shock, Lin Jingzhe quickly relaxed. He leaned back and glanced at the reflection of the office door in the window. Hu Shaofeng and Deng Mai showed no sign of returning as of yet.

When he turned his gaze around, Lin Jingzhe’s eyes briefly met Xiao Chi's in the french window’s reflection. His solemn and almost indifferent expression was completely contradicted by the pair of strong arms tightly wrapped around his waist. Lin Jingzhe couldn't help but laugh as he covered the back of Xiao Chi’s hand with his own.

Xiao Chi’s advances were reciprocated, but his expression remained unchanged. Only his gaze became a little hotter and the arms around Lin Jingzhe’s waist tightened. Like a cat that scorned servitude, he stubbornly pulled his hand out of Lin Jingzhe’s grasp, only to place his own hand over the other’s.

Lin Jingzhe's hand was one size smaller than his own, and comfortable to hold. Xiao Chi squeezed the hand lightly before he pulled it away from Lin Jingzhe's waist. He spread their palms out together, looked down, and said, "It's too cold."

It was indeed very cold. Compared to the scorching heat exuding from Xiao Chi’s body, Lin Jingzhe seemed to be living in winter; both his face and hands were cool to the touch.

Xiao Chi had some medical knowledge. He knew that most people with low body temperatures were not in good health. A little distressed, he gently rubbed his thumb across the back of Lin Jingzhe's hand.

"Why bother putting on an act?" Lin Jingzhe felt ticklish from his touch. Peeved, he used his free hand to grab Xiao Chi’s crotch with a force that was neither light nor heavy.

He had thought that Xiao Chi wanted to draw a clear line between the both of them. Otherwise, how could he have not shown him any signs since the beginning of their meeting? Xiao Chi had been moving his buddhist beads with such a concentrated and earnest expression. If people didn't know any better, they would have thought he was performing a ceremony in a Buddhist temple.

Xiao Chi originally wanted to ask Lin Jingzhe why he had been so lukewarm to him recently. He had initially wanted to take him to his house for dinner, but Lin Jingzhe obviously didn't want to talk to him. Instead, he had 'attacked' him. The hand that was on Xiao Chi's crotch still hadn't been taken back; rather, Lin Jingzhe kept it in place, and gently slid it up and down twice.

Xiao Chi's body was instantly set ablaze. He gasped and took a step forward. He clung closer to Lin Jingzhe's body, pushing him up against the wall next to the window. The tip of his nose touched Lin Jingzhe's cheek, and then Lin Jingzhe turned his head and kissed him.

Believing that it was probably because he had been repressed for so long, Lin Jingzhe was able to immediately immerse himself in the moment. His arm hooked behind Xiao Chi's neck, and his reaction was as enthusiastic as the previous two times. The boiling tension caused his eyelids to tremble and his consciousness seemed to be veiled by a barrier. Two bodies of water collided and became one.

After their deep kiss, Xiao Chi's lips slipped down to his chin and nibbled it lightly. Lin Jingzhe struggled to open his eyes as he panted, "The door..."

Deng Mai and Hu Shaofeng didn't lock the door when they went out. If someone were to come now, they would instantly become the focus of attention.

Xiao Chi lightly bit the tip of his chin, his breath hot against the side of Lin Jingzhe's face.

Lin Jingzhe locked eyes with Xiao Chi, whose stare was sharper and fiercer than before. However, coupled with his scorching exhales, the meaning Lin Jingzhe read behind Xiao Chi’s gaze became completely different from just a moment ago. It was as if he would be swallowed alive by the other party, and this illusion gave him an indescribable feeling, as if they were taking part in an evenly matched battle; no man could remain indifferent to this. Xiao Chi grabbed him and took a few steps back. Lin Jingzhe turned around while still holding onto his hand. Once they were face to face, they embraced again and resumed their inseparable kiss.

Xiao Chi's hand, which was on Lin Jingzhe's waist, slipped downwards. With little effort, Lin Jingzhe was completely held up by him. Lin Jingzhe’s legs clamped around Xiao Chi’s waist, while his arms continued to hug his neck.

Their entangled tongues did not separate for a moment. While maintaining this hugging posture, Xiao Chi turned and strode to the door. Using Lin Jingzhe’s back, he pushed the door closed and then pressed the small lock on the door knob.

The faint sounds of voices and footsteps could be heard through the thin door panel. Lin Jingzhe glanced in the direction of the door lock in a daze and then immediately turned his gaze back at Xiao Chi's direction. His hand slid through Xiao Chi's hair from the side, making a mess of the latter's curly hair which had been fixed by mousse. Lin Jingzhe hated the dry texture caused by the mousse hairspray. His fingertips lightly twisted the tip of Xiao Chi’s stiff hair back and forth. When Xiao Chi was looking for his lips, Lin Jingzhe leaned into the other's ear and whispered: "Next time, don't apply so much hairspray."

Compared to his meticulous appearance now, Lin Jingzhe preferred the fluffy and slightly curly hair that morning at the guest house in Changqing City.

Xiao Chi remained silent as he slid his hands underneath the hem of Lin Jingzhe’s shirt. Then, only the sound of rapid breathing could be heard in the office.

Their lips that had been separated momentarily were stuck together again. Their current posture caused Lin Jingzhe to be the taller one, and it was unclear whether he had Xiao Chi in control or Xiao Chi had him in control.

Lin Jingzhe pulled Xiao Chi's head closer as he lowered his head to kiss him. Xiao Chi's powerful arms and body became his only support as he was suspended. With his back against the door, Lin Jingzhe could hear the front desk secretary of Xiao Chi's company greet, "Mr. Hu, you’re back."

Hu Shaofeng was back.

Lin Jingzhe paused for a moment. He withdrew his tongue and looked back towards the door. Xiao Chi, who obviously heard the movement too, continued to chase after his tongue.

His heart began to beat violently in his chest. Then, the fiery hand which had been lingering on his lower back moved to his chest. Without thought, Lin Jingzhe followed the other party's lead and disregarded all consequences, resuming their affair with reckless abandon.

Hu Shaofeng had returned with the revised contract. He knocked on the door twice but there was no response.

Puzzled, he knocked twice more to no avail.

Xiao Chi had many rules, so he would definitely be scolded for entering the door without permission. Hu Shaofeng cast a puzzled look at the secretary, who replied with a nod. They pointed in the direction of the office, and signaled: Xiao Chi did not go out, he was still inside.

Hu Shaofeng tried to turn the doorknob, but found that it was locked.

What happened? Why was the door locked?

Hu Shaofeng felt troubled because  this had never happened before.

It was nearly impossible that Xiao Chi was taking a break. As mentioned before, Xiao Chi had a lot of rules. Even though it was a very popular design, Xiao Chi had refused to add a lounge room to his office. He insisted that an office was a professional workplace, and no private matters should be done there, including breaks.

There was no spare key for the door. Hu Shaofeng paused and could only call softly: "Brother Xiao? Little Jingzhe?"

But at this moment, the door panel made a ‘thud’ sound. Taken aback, Hu Shaofeng stared at the part of the door that seemed to have been slammed.

"Xiao Liang," He called out to the secretary who was working next to him, "did you hear that?"

The secretary cast him a puzzled look and shook their head, indicating that they hadn't heard anything.

Hu Shaofeng stood there confused. He felt that he must have misheard. He knocked on the door and called out again, but received no response. He then hesitated for a moment and slowly put one ear against the door.

Unfortunately, the loud sound that seemed to have hit the door before did not reappear. He listened hard for a while, but other than a light sound of rustling, there was no sign of conversation.

Strange, what the hell was Xiao Chi doing inside?

Suddenly, there was a surprised call from behind, "Mr. Hu?"

Hu Shaofeng straightened up hastily. At this time the door panel seemed to slam again, but Hu Shaofeng no longer had the time to pay it any heed. He could only smile awkwardly at the new arrival, "Cough. Mr. Deng."

Although he typically acted sloppy within the company, Hu Shaofeng maintained an elite image to the outside world. This was especially true in front of collaborators like Deng Mai; here he was determined to never show his true self.

Hu Shaofeng hurriedly pointed in the direction of the door and changed the subject. "Is Mr. Lin still inside?"

Deng Mai nodded. He had been sent off to start the car by Lin Jingzhe just now.

Hu Shaofeng frowned and asked worriedly, "Since both of them are inside, why lock the door?"

Since the conversation was related to Lin Jingzhe, Deng Mai immediately disregarded whatever Hu Shaofeng was doing just now. Deng Mai was taken aback. After hearing Hu Shaofeng finished talking about the situation, his heart felt as if it was hung in the air.

Locked? Xiao Chi and Lin Jingzhe were still inside?

It couldn't be a scuffle, right?

The gossip circulating in Yan City recently said these two people had fought behind locked doors at a guest room in Changqing City. Dai Gaofeng had managed to stop their dispute after kicking down the door.

This rumor had been weaved so tightly that it seemed very credible. After returning to Yan City, the two main parties acted as if they were strangers and did not meet again. It was said that someone confirmed the authenticity of the news from Dai Gaofeng personally.

On their way here, Deng Mai had even asked Lin Jingzhe about it, but he did not get a positive answer.

It was obvious that Hu Shaofeng had also heard of this rumor. He didn't take it seriously at first. After all, although Brother Xiao's temper was not as calm as he presented himself on the outside, he would definitely not allow his temper to explode to the point of becoming physical. But at the moment, he was a little hesitant to affirm this belief. Hu Shaofeng looked at Deng Mai, both of them saw the deep worry in the other's eyes.

Good lord.
